Falco
The Falco baseboard powered a series of early x86_64 Chromebooks designed for lightweight, everyday computing tasks. Built around processors such as the Intel Celeron 2955U, these devices were focused on delivering a simple and responsive ChromeOS experience for basic browsing, email, and cloud-based productivity. Falco systems helped introduce ChromeOS to mainstream users and education spaces, offering fast boot times, all-day battery life, and a low-maintenance computing model at an accessible price.
However, the limited performance headroom of the Falco platform has become more apparent with the increasing demands of modern web applications and multitasking. With an Auto Update Expiration (AUE) date of June 2019, Falco devices are no longer supported with ChromeOS updates or security patches, making them less suitable for daily internet use. While still useful for very light tasks, experimentation, or offline workflows, users seeking smooth and secure performance will benefit from transitioning to a more recent ChromeOS device.
